FGM guidance for travel health services

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has published new guidance on female genital mutilation (FGM) for travel health services. The document highlights the important role that those working in travel health services should play in safeguarding against FGM and outlines best practice and procedures for risk assessment and reporting.

The guidance, which was funded by the Department of Health and has been endorsed by the College’s Faculty of Travel Medicine, is now available on the RCN website.

The Director of Education of the Faculty of Travel Medicine, Jane Chiodini FFTM RCPS(Glasg) and Faculty members Sandra Grieve FFTM RCPS(Glasg) and Jennifer Anderson MFTM RCPS(Glasg), were key contributors to the publication.
