Over the past 3 years 20 mentors, drawn from a variety of professions, have been involved in a pilot ‘intergenerational mentoring initiative’ at Springburn Academy in the North-East of Glasgow. This project is supervised by Alistair Wilson and his team from Strathclyde University’s School of Education. They now intend to extend this initiative to other secondary schools in areas of social deprivation in Glasgow and are looking for volunteers to act as mentors or to support the project.
More information can be found on the University’s website.
