We need your help – College Community Legacy Project

22 Dec 2014

Following consultation with our partners in Namibia, the College will contribute to projects on the northern boundary of the Namib desert.

Following consultation with our partners in Namibia, the College will contribute to projects on the northern boundary of the Namib desert.

In February, the College Leadership Fellow, Dr Andrew Murray will be going on an expedition to run over 550km almost entirely on sand across the Namib desert.

While in Namibia, Dr Murray plans to donate much needed basic medial equipment to staff in the area.

Can you help by donating basic medical equipment? Supplies needed are:

  • Stethescopes
  • Blood pressure machines
  • Pulse oximeters
  • Otoscopes/auroscopes
  • ECG machines
  • Other basic diagnostic kit

Please donate by dropping it off or mailing to:

Dr Andrew Murray, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, 232-242 St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5RJ.

The equipment will be distributed on days with the tribal communities. Local leaders have also expressed a desire to identify areas for future collaboration with the aim of establishing long term links. Recent examples of our success with this includes dental and cataract surgery provision in Outer Mongolia partnering with the Yamaa Trust and helping to shape systems and provide clinical expertise in palliative care in East Africa with APCA.

Please contact Dr Andrew Murray with any queries.
