Leading doctors recognised in 2025 Birthday Honours List

College congratulates Fellows and Members named in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours List.

Fellows and Members of the College have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to health in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2025. 

They include pioneers in plastic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and occupational medicine. 

Professor Hany Eteiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, said: “On behalf of the entire College community, I would like to congratulate all our Fellows and Members on these richly deserved honours. 

“Their pioneering work has improved health and care for patients, and they very much embody the College’s values of community, inspiration and innovation.” 

Honoured for their outstanding service 

Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE)

Professor Ewan Beaton MacDonald OBE. Professor and Head, Healthy Working Lives Group, University of Glasgow. For services to occupational medicine and to reducing health inequalities. (Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire)

Officers of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)

College Honorary Fellow, Professor Peter Andrew Brennan. Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Honorary Professor of Surgery, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. For services to surgery and patient safety. (Romsey, Hampshire) 

Professor Iain Stuart Whitaker. Professor of Plastic Surgery, Swansea university Medical School and the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery. For services to plastic surgery. (Swansea, West Glamorgan)
