Dr Steve Graham has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Steve takes over from Mr John Cooper who left the College in August.
Steve brings more than 27 years of senior business, public sector and university leadership experience. He was previously the Executive Director of the University of Strathclyde’s Technology and Innovation Centre, a £100 million capital and £50 million funding programme to transform the way the University undertakes collaborative research and development with business and industry. Other roles include Chief Executive of the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service, and senior global business and commercial roles in Allied-Domecq, Uniqema and ICI.
Steve joins the College today, Monday 3 October, during a very busy period. The planned refurbishment of our main building on St Vincent Street will commence in the next few weeks, planning is underway for our triennial conference, Excellence in Healthcare 2017, and we are well into the academic calendar of delivering excellence across education, examinations and membership support services.
President of the College, Professor David Galloway said, “I am delighted to announce that our new Chief Executive Officer is now in place. Dr Steve Graham was appointed from a very strong field and he brings a wealth of senior management experience from private industry as well as senior university leadership.
“The College has been undergoing a significant series of changes which permeate our physical footprint, our membership and our international and global health activities. As we position ourselves to advance these strategic developments, having Steve join us brings significant added strength to the College. I welcome his appointment with enthusiasm.”
