A new joint report from the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Psychiatrists highlights the major reduction in life expectancy and quality of life experienced by people with mental health problems who smoke, and recommends major changes to prevention and treatment strategies in mental health service settings.
The report makes a series of recommendations aimed at giving people with mental disorders the same protection and health interventions as the wider smoking population.
We believe that implementing this report would help put an end to the perpetuation of smoking in those with mental health problems and would appreciate your assistance in this vital task.
The free executive summary can be downloaded from the Royal College of Physicians website.
Copies of the full report can also be purchased from the Royal College of Physicians online bookshop.
