Junior doctors in Scotland have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action on 5 May. The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow fully support the statement released by the Scottish Academy of Medical Royal Colleges in response to the ballot.

College President, Mike McKirdy, endorsed the statements of the Scottish and UK Academies of Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties, and added that, while the College fully respects the right of colleagues in the early years of their medical careers to take industrial action, any such action would be best avoided if at all possible, and urged all parties to find a constructive way forward in their negotiations.
