The College President, Professor David Galloway, has written to the Secretary of State for Transport strongly urging him to support a bill to lower the drink drive limit in England and Wales. The proposed limits would bring England and Wales into line with Scotland and many other European countries.
In his letter, Professor Galloway said, "Doctors experience first-hand the tragic consequences of road traffic accidents. Every death and serious injury is devastation for the person and their family and can have long lasting implications. All road traffic accidents caused by driving under the influence of alcohol are preventable. Action to reduce the drink driving limit has the potential to save lives and prevent personal tragedy."
