JRCPTB has announced the appointment of Professor David Black as its new medical director. Professor Black will succeed Professor Bill Burr, taking up the role from 1 August 2014 for a period of three years.

JRCPTB has announced the appointment of Professor David Black as its new medical director. Professor Black will succeed Professor Bill Burr, taking up the role from 1st August 2014 for a period of three years.
Professor Black is currently the senior censor and vice president for education and training for the Royal College of Physicians, London, supporting and developing education and standards of training.
Professor Black graduated from the University of Cambridge and has been a consultant physician in geriatric medicine since 1987. He was appointed dean director of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Postgraduate Medical and Dental Deanery in 2004 and awarded an honorary professorship in the Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2005.
Professor Black’s main responsibilities and priorities as JRCPTB medical director will be to oversee its role in the management of core, general and medical specialty training, provide clinical leadership on policy and healthcare reform by driving and supporting changes through its engagement with stakeholder groups on matters impacting on training, including quality, curricula, assessment, and standard setting.
