Following the Scottish First Minister’s announcement today regarding further easing of restrictions in Scotland, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Professor Jackie Taylor, has welcomed the recognition of a need for a gradual approach that minimises the impact on NHS recovery.
Professor Taylor said:
“While the easing of restrictions will be welcomed by many people, it is essential that we all continue to be cautious and to show consideration for others. The impact of not being able to see our loved ones and restrictions on our daily lives have had a huge impact on wellbeing, and it is so important that we can get back to a more balanced way of life. A gradual approach to relaxation of restrictions across the UK that enables us to manage increasing COVID-19 cases and the impact on our health services will give us the best opportunity of emerging from this pandemic.
Basic measures like mask wearing and hand hygiene remains incredibly important to protect the most vulnerable in our society.”
