The College has introduced hybrid working which enables employees to work from both their home and in the College. As part of this arrangement, employees are required to spend at least 50% of their working time in the College, with the days being subject to the needs of the business.

The Role

We’re looking for a talented Communications Manager to help us engage with new and existing Fellows and Members, staff, and partners in Scotland, the UK and internationally.

They will contribute to the planning and delivery of a College-wide communications strategy, based on our strategic objectives, that enhances staff and clinician engagement, and supports a positive organisational culture.

The role involves the delivery of both internal and external communications and campaign activity across a range of channels to meet target audiences and influencers. The post holder will be in regular contact with the President, Office Bearers and other senior clinicians and staff working across the College to ensure consistency of messaging and tone.

The post holder will work with colleagues in the Communications and Marketing directorate to manage delivery of a strategy for the use of the College’s communication channels (including email, social media, Faculty news updates, the intranet and our membership magazine, College Voice), informed by industry best-practice.

With the College preparing to celebrate its 425th anniversary later this year, this is an exciting time to join us.

About You

The postholder will require the following:

  • Experience in communications, journalism, or a related subject or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in a communications role.
  • Excellent communication and editorial skills, with outstanding proofreading ability and writing skills.
  • A strong track record of developing and delivering effective email campaigns.
  • A proven track record as a highly effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with negotiating, persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media channels.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of internal communications and engagement.
  • Confident planning and project management skills; able to prioritise and manage multiple projects ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a membership, academic or healthcare environment would be an advantage.
  • Highly competent in use of Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge and experience with DotDigital for email campaigns would be an advantage.
