Jonty has loved mountains and wild places since he was a boy. Having climbed in many parts of the world, home is now the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Still as enthusiastic as ever for the mountains, he now enjoys helping others to discover them as an International Mountain Leader (UIMLA), working for his own company On High Hills as well as for other providers. He studied Medicine at Cambridge University, where a particular interest in infectious disease of all sorts was sparked. This led to study for a Diploma in Tropical Medicine followed by hands-on experience in East Africa. Medical work now is as a Consultant Medical Microbiologist.
Jonty is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal Geographical Society, as well as being a longstanding member of the Alpine Club. It is also worth remembering that he is passionate about curry, the promise of which can usually persuade him to do most things!
