Biography
Professor Chitta Chowdhury PhD (Japan), MPH (UK), FFDRCS (RCS Ireland), MFDS, RCPS (Glasgow), FRSPH (UK), BDS (DU), DND (DU), graduated in Dentistry and proceeded to pursue doctoral and post-doctoral research. He is a PhD supervisor in the UK and abroad. He is currently the Academic Dean and Dissertation Lead of the University of Bolton City of London Dental School and is heavily involved in establishment of the UK based University Alliance Initiative (UAI) and British Academy of Oral Biology & Clinical Dentistry (BAOB-CD).
Noted positions he has held include founding chairman of the Nitte University Department of Oral Biology and Genomics, founder of the Indian Academy of Oral Biology, and president of the UK Institute of Health Promotion and Education (IHPE).
He was an examiner of RCSEng, London and has written seven books including, “Handbook of Oral Cancer Screening and Education”, which is recommended by British Dental Journal (BDJ). He has also published high impact research in peer reviewed journals.
Chitta divides his time between the UK, India and Japan for clinical service, educational development, and research. He is married and his wife and son both work for the NHS. He is a humanist, and passionately cares for the climate, nature, and wildlife.
