Probal Neogi

Dr Probal Neogi, a graduate from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, completed his basic surgical training and gained an M.S. qualification from the Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Allahabad. Following his primary qualification, he travelled to the UK to gain experience as a registrar in the NHS for 5 years, before returning to Allahabad as a Consultant Surgeon. Since 2002, Dr Neogi is working in an academic role as a Professor of Surgery at Moti Lal Nehru Medical College.

He is an Intercollegiate Examiner for the MRCS, of the Royal Colleges, UK, and an examiner for MS, DNB, and PhD in Surgery in India. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr Neogi has to this date performed more than 10,000 laparoscopic surgeries, numerous general surgical operations, including surgeries on the GI system, breast, thyroid, soft tissue, and onco-surgery, upper and lower GI endoscopy, and many more in the last 25 years.

He has played a significant role in establishing laparoscopic surgery in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, as one of the first surgeons to have delivered the procedure.

Dr Neogi also has a long-standing affiliation with the Association of Surgeons of India. He is currently the President of the Uttar Pradesh/Uttarakhand Chapter, and as of 2023, he is the Vice President/President Elect for the Association, with his presidential term to begin in 2024.
