The Buddy Scheme, established in partnership with the West Region of the Scotland Deanery, aims to provide Core Surgical Trainees (CST) with Specialty Surgical Trainee (SST) support informal advice and guidance.

Specialty Surgical Trainee (ST3-7)
Being a 'Buddy' is a great opportunity for you to:
- Have an introduction into the role of the educational supervisor
- Develop coaching / leadership / management skills
- Potentially interest an enthusiastic CST in your own research and audit projects
- Have the personal satisfaction of helping to enhance the development and career progression of the next generation of WoS trainees
- Certificates of participation in the scheme will be awarded

Core Surgical Trainee
Joining the Buddy Scheme will give you the opportunity to:
- Have an 'older sibling' who can be contacted for support
- Be held accountable for CV development and career progression and subsequently enhance the chance of success in ST applications
- Avoid the feeling of being lost in a large training programme and develop a personal sense of belonging as a WoS CST
