Overview

As application of AI expands across health systems around the world, this year our annual President's Conference will look at exploring artificial intelligence in medicine.

The conference will provide clinicians with the most up-to-date understanding of how AI is used in medicine today and how it is set to develop.

Our national experts will present sessions which analyse cases for successful applications of AI, how to integrate AI ethically into healthcare, as well as understanding the barriers to development and implementation in current healthcare systems.

Hany Eteiba

Our President, Professor Hany Eteiba, has chosen the topic for this year's conference: Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.

For my first conference as President, I’ve chosen this theme because AI is already changing how we diagnose, treat, and care for patients.

But with innovation comes responsibility. We must ask ourselves: How do we use AI safely, ethically and effectively to improve patient outcomes.

Sessions will include

  • An overview of how AI has developed in medicine and the rate of innovation
  • Practical applications of AI in diagnostics and treatment across specialties
  • A keynote debate discussing the opportunities for AI to improve clinical practice and consideration of ethical challenges
  • The legislative landscape of AI development and how to implement new AI tools in the NHS
  • The public understanding of AI in medicine and how to navigate conversations about new technology with colleagues and patients
