Overview
Active Bystander Training for Tackling Sexual Misconduct in Healthcare is an interactive half-day workshop providing a comprehensive introduction to understanding, identifying and addressing sexual misconduct in the workplace and in clinical settings.
The College is offering this course in response to the 2023 'Breaking the Silence' report by the Working Party on Sexual Misconduct in Surgery (WPSMS), and as part of our commitment to a 10-point plan aimed at ensuring a safer, more respectful healthcare system for everyone.
Through a mix of presentations and group discussions, participants will explore key topics including workplace culture, types of inappropriate behaviour and the role of active allyship. The session encourages open dialogue and reflection, aiming to foster a safer, more respectful working environment.
The workshop will be led by Katherine Dunn, Specialty Registrar in Restorative Dentistry, Edinburgh Dental Institute and Anna Bleakley, Core Surgical Trainee at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Please note: This workshop will include discussions of sexual misconduct, which might be distressing or triggering for some participants. We will have breakout areas available should anyone need to step out or take a break from the session.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the coordinator. Their details can be found below.
