Overview
The MRCS Part B OSCE is a practical, station-based examination that assesses the applied knowledge, clinical skills and professional behaviours expected of a surgeon in training.
After passing Part A, this assessment forms the second and final part of the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) qualification, which is recognised by the four Surgical Royal Colleges of the UK and Ireland. The assessment is run jointly with the other Colleges of Surgeons in the UK and Ireland through the Intercollegiate Committee for Basic Surgical Examinations (ICBSE).
Award of the MRCS diploma indicates that a candidate has enhanced their knowledge, understanding, experience and clinical competence well beyond primary qualification level.
Passing Part B makes you eligible for election as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
