26 Mar 2020
The Lord Provost of Glasgow and College President Professor Jackie Taylor, have written a joint letter to the citizens of Glasgow with regard to the current health crisis.

We’ve published this joint letter today (Thursday 26th March 2020) from the Lord Provost of Glasgow and the President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, addressed to their fellows citizens of Glasgow.
The text of the letter is as follows:
Dear Fellow Glaswegians,
We are facing an unprecedented challenge in overcoming Covid-19. As two institutions at the heart of the City of Glasgow we are working together to ensure these important instructions are heard and followed to save lives.
Glasgow is a city renowned for its resilience and community spirit. We must draw on these qualities now, and follow the instructions from the First Minister and Chief Medical Officer:
- Stay home, unless you are an essential worker;
- Only leave your home for essential items or to care for others;
- If you must leave home, stay 2 meters away from others; and
- Wash your hands.
You can find more information online at www.nhsinform.scot/coronavirus.
You have a crucial role to play in slowing down transmission of the virus, and in saving lives. It is vitally important that you follow this guidance. Playing your part will also help NHS Scotland to provide the care that is needed at a time of enormous pressure. It will help to protect you, your family and the most vulnerable people in our community.
Signed,
Professor Jackie Taylor, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow
Councillor Philip Braat, The Rt Hon The Lord Provost of Glasgow
