Our College community sends warm and heartfelt congratulations to our President, Professor Jackie Taylor who retires today from clinical work after dedicating 38 years of service to the NHS.
Jackie’s contribution and achievements are outstanding, and we are immensely proud of the values, commitment and passion she consistently delivers both through her clinical work and in her role as President of our College.
Jackie has been a consultant physician for more than 25 years, first at Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary before taking on the role of Consultant in Medicine for the Elderly at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1997. She was one of four consultants who developed the GRI stroke service, and led the development of a specialist Heart Failure clinical and a multi-dimensional Day Hospital Programme for older heart failure patients.
She has been invited to speak at multiple conferences and published extensively, gaining international recognition for her work in geriatric medicine and heart failure. She has also held many roles including clinical director and acting associate medical director, honorary clinical senior lecturer, and associate postgraduate dean, among many others.
Her final day as a consultant in the NHS will no doubt be an emotional one for Jackie, who has dedicated so much of her life to caring for patients. As President of our College, and through her leadership and influence, she will continue to ensure the highest standards of care for both the healthcare workforce and our patients are always high on the agenda.
We look forward to supporting and being guided by Jackie as she enters this new chapter.
