Vicky Hyde, Lay Advisor

Vicky grew up in rural Stirlingshire before moving to England at the age of 17 to study Paper Science at UMIST. After a year she left the course and gained experience in a wide variety of jobs. She returned to Scotland at 21 and has since lived in Aberdeen, Camelon, Craigmillar and Inverness, before settling in Glasgow. Over the years, Vicky has raised five children and worked in a railway travel centre, a law library and a range of retail environments.

She trained as a CTDU Active Citizen, volunteered as HR Director for a national third sector organisation and completed a Certificate of Higher Education in Publishing and Print Media at Edinburgh Napier University. Vicky has been a Lay Communications Examiner for the MRCS Part B for seven years and now serves as a Lay Advisor to the Examinations Board. She also campaigns to amplify the lived-experience voices of people living in poverty. Her preferred pronouns are she/her.
