As Director of Membership, Heritage and Governance, Muir is responsible for the recruitment, retention and engagement of all College members. He leads two teams focused on delivering a first-class customer experience, from the moment individuals apply to join, through every stage of their career as they engage with the College’s networks, groups, committees and boards. He also directs the work of the Heritage team and ensures that College governance is fully compliant with regulations, and that elections are conducted fairly and credibly.
Muir has more than 30 years’ experience in international relations and business development. Before joining the College, he held senior roles at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, where he contributed to expanding and managing global networks. He also worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office supporting UK foreign policy in Russia and the former Soviet Republics.
Muir graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MA (Hons) in Russian Language and Literature.
