Mr John Scott graduated from the University of Dundee In 1988 and was awarded FRCS (Glas) in 1992. He trained in Bristol, England; Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland; benefiting from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow Travelling Fellowships to the MD Anderson Center, Houston, Texas and the European Institute of Oncology, Milan. Following the award of the Intercollegiate FRCS (Plast) in 1999, he was appointed Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the Canniesburn Unit, Glasgow in 2001.
Mr Scotts’ areas of clinical specialisation are breast reconstruction and skin oncology. He has a keen interest in postgraduate education, directing many courses at the Clinical Anatomy Skills Centre, Glasgow and collaborating closely with the Association of Breast Surgery. He was appointed Joint Committee on Intercollegiate Examinations Plastic Surgery Board Chair in 2017.
He represented the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in developing a Plastic Surgery training programme and summative examination with the Malaysian Association of Plastic and Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons. The first graduates were awarded the postnominal FRCS Glasgow (Plastic Surgery) in 2020.
