Dr. Vijay Viswanathan is a dedicated clinician–scientist with a focused expertise in the prevention and treatment of diabetic foot complications and diabetic kidney disease. His work integrates clinical practice with research, emphasizing early detection, risk stratification, and comprehensive management approaches to reduce diabetes-related morbidity. He is instrumental in the development of “Registry - Save the Feet’ in India.
Dr. Vijay is a member of the IWGDF (International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot) - Offloading & Wound Healing groups in their mission to produce evidence based guidelines. He is involved in collaborative clinical research, capacity building for healthcare teams and development of patient-centered care models. His commitment lies in advancing research-based strategies for patient care to enhance the quality of life and long-term outcomes for people living with diabetes. He has saved over one lakh limbs from amputation He is conferred with several awards.
He is credited with around 300 research publications in peer-reviewed national and international scientific journals and about 25 book chapters.
