Dr Richard Hull, Vice President (medical)
Richard Hull FRCP(Glasg) was appointed Consultant Rheumatologist at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, in 1989. After graduating from Birmingham, he trained in the Aberdeen Hospitals, the Hammersmith Hospital, the Canadian Hospital at Taplow and Northwick Park Hospital.
He has written widely and contributed to standards of care and management guidelines on inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases and rheumatic disease in children and young adults. He is a past convener of the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology, has served on the Council of the British Society for Rheumatology and is a former President of the Section of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is also a former trustee and Chair of the Clinical and Medical Advisory Board of Arthritis Care. He has examined for MRCP (PACES) for over 15 years and has been Regional Advisor for Wessex since 2008.
His service innovations were recognised nationally, and he maintains strong ties to Scotland, with long-standing links to the Western Isles and a love of the hills.
