Dr George Kassianos

Dr George Kassianos is a Greek Cypriot who graduated with honours from the Medical Academy of Łódź, Poland, on a scholarship. He trained as a General Practitioner at Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital, London, United Kingdom, and retired from general practice in 2017 after 38 years of service.

He is National Immunisation Lead for the Royal College of General Practitioners and President and Fellow of the British Global & Travel Health Association. Dr Kassianos is a Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at the College, the British and Irish Hypertension Society, the European Society of Cardiology, and the International Society of Travel Medicine. He chairs the RAISE Pan-European group (Raising Awareness of Influenza Strategies in Europe), representing 20 countries, and is a Board Member of the European Scientific Working Group on Influenza.

He was the 36th recipient of the Royal College of General Practitioners’ Foundation Council Award in 2018, and was appointed Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2020.
