Overview

The Syncope Conference: Everyone's Problem, returns to the Royal College, join us in person or online for the latest updates on syncope assessment and treatment. The programme includes interactive presentations, case-based learning and expert panel discussions.

A wide range of topics will be covered including assessment, cardiovascular and neurology amongst others.

The conference will update your knowledge on acute assessment of Syncope, how to risk stratify and emerging areas of interest.  There will be plenty of opportunity to interact with panel members and your fellow attendees.

  • Use risk tools to triage and manage syncope patients effectively
  • Understand legal and clinical aspects of driving with syncope
  • Recognise cardiovascular causes using clinical signs and tests
  • Approach differential diagnosis of cardiac, reflex, and orthostatic syncope
  • Review latest research, technology, and guidelines in syncope care

This conference is run by Dr Lara Mitchell, Consultant Physician in Older People Services, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. To consolidate your learning, we record all sessions and make them available to all registered delegates for up to a month after the conference.

The Syncope Conference: Everyone's Problem, is relevant to both primary and secondary care physicians, the Conference will be of interest to anyone who is involved in unscheduled care: 

  • Consultants and trainees in:
    Acute and general medicine, cardiology, neurology, geriatric and emergency medicine
  • General practitioners
  • Nurse practitioners and Advanced nurse practitioners
  • Cardiac Physiologists 

Attending the conference

This event is an in-person and online conference. That means you get the chance to join us both at the College or from the comfort of your own home.

Claiming your CPD

This conference offers 6 CPD points for everyone who attends. This can be claimed via your College account. CPD points will be available for up to one month after the conference. Where the conference has been recorded, these sessions will also be available. If you have any questions about claiming your CPD points, our Education team are happy to help. 

Poster competition

We are currently accepting entries for Syncope Conference: Everyone's Problem, poster competition.  

This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and understanding, as well as get an edge for your future career development.  

The top submissions will be invited to present their entry as part of the conference with the winner announced at the end. All other accepted abstracts will feature as part of a digital showcase.

Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday 10th October 2025

Send your submission to andrea.cumming@rcpsg.ac.uk using the subject heading 'Syncope Conference Poster Competition.'

All shortlisted entrants will be required to attend the conference. For those who aren’t already Members of the College, membership starts at just £16 a year and allows you to benefit from a discounted registration fee.
