Overview

The Stroke and Neurology Conference for the Generalist is a one-day hybrid event will showcase an engaging programme that combines expert lectures, interactive case discussions, and practical learning opportunities. 

Expert speakers will share the latest advances and clinical updates across topics such as movement disorders, stroke mimics and epilepsy amongst others.

Learning outcomes

By attending this conference you will be able to: 

  • Gain a greater understanding of acute management of common neurological and stroke presentations
  • Gain specific knowledge around movement disorder, headache, and stroke
  • Understand recent developments in the identification and management of neurological diseases caused by toxins, and the toxic effects of anticancer drugs, including immune checkpoint inhibitors
  • Gain an understanding of recent trials in Stroke, Epilepsy and Parkinson's disease, and their implications for clinical practice

Claiming your CPD

This conference offers 6 CPD points for everyone who attends. This can be claimed via your College account. CPD points will be available for up to one month after the conference. Where the conference has been recorded, these sessions will also be available. If you have any questions about claiming your CPD points, our Education team are happy to help.

Workshop sessions

The afternoon programme will consist of workshop sessions, further details regarding will be sent out prior to attending. Please note, workshops will be allocated depending on in-person or online attendance. For details on the subject of the workshops please see below summaries:

Neurological complications of cancer treatments (in-person only attendance) 

This workshop will involve an interactive case-based discussion, themed around patients presenting with neurological complications of new chemotherapeutic agents. Delegates will gain a practical understanding of how to manage these conditions in the acute setting, as well as an update on recent new guidance. 

This session will complement and expand upon the morning plenary session on the neurology of chemotherapeutic agents.

Radiology imaging (online only attendance) 

This workshop will involve an interactive discussion of neuroradiology cases commonly seen on the acute medical take, and stroke calls. 

An experienced neuroradiologist will present cases, invite discussion and share ‘hints and tips’ for the non-specialist having to order and interpret neuroimaging.  

Targeted clinical examination in the acute setting (in-person only attendance) 

Delegates will observe clinical demonstrations of the neurological examination, with opportunity for hands on examination, with feedback from experienced clinicians.  

This session will feature people living with neurological conditions allowing delegates to work with ‘real life’ neurology.  

Case studies (hybrid attendance) 

This workshop will present clinical cases in the fields of stroke and neurology. An expert multi-disciplinary panel will present structured cases and then coordinate discussion with delegates. Use of a live voting platform will allow delegates to suggest diagnoses and management.

Poster competition

We are currently accepting entries for the Stroke and Neurology Conference for the Generalist poster competition.  

This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and understanding, as well as get an edge for your future career development.  

The top submissions will be invited to present their entry as part of the conference with the winner announced at the end. All other accepted abstracts will feature as part of a digital showcase.

All shortlisted entrants will be required to attend the conference. For those who aren’t already Members of the College, membership starts at just £16 a year and allows you to benefit from a discounted registration fee.
