Overview

The Core Endoscopic Urology and Peno-Scrotal Surgery Course will offer hands on experience and the opportunity to perform essential open urological emergency procedures using fresh cadaveric material. This course takes place in-person.

The Course Lead for this event is: 

Mr Simon Morton, Consultant Urological Surgeon, Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Learning outcomes

Key endoscopic lower urinary tract procedures will include:

  • Flexible cystoscopy
  • Rigid cystoscopy
  • Transurethral resection of prostate/bladder
  • Insertion of ureteric stent

Open peno-scrotal procedures will include:

  • Exploration of scrotum
  • Fixation of testis
  • Circumcision

Two participants will be assigned to each cadaver, giving a low participant-to-faculty ratio. Some didactic teaching will take place, but the main emphasis of the course will be to provide a hands-on operating experience.

The Core Endoscopic Urology and Peno-Scrotal Surgery Course is aimed at: 

  • New entrants to urology (CT1/2–ST3)

Attending the course

This event is an in-person course. That means you get the chance to join us at the Clinical Anatomy Skills Centre, located at the University of Glasgow.

The centre is located on the university campus in the West End of Glasgow.  

The closest train station from Glasgow Central or Queen Street is Partick, which is around a 15-minute walk from the centre.  

Hillhead and Kelvinbridge subway stations are both within walking distance of the university.  

There are regular buses from the city centre to University Avenue, Traveline Scotland can help you find the best route.

Parking on or around University Avenue can be quite limited, though there is some available. If you require disabled parking, you can make a request to the Disability Services team at the University of Glasgow.

This course offers 6 CPD for everyone who attends. This can be claimed via your College account. CPD points will be available for up to one month after the course. If you have any questions about claiming your CPD points, our Education team are happy to help.
