Overview
This one-day course will give attendees the chance to understand and gain experience in performing urgent urological procedures. Using cadaveric material, the course will enable attendees to gain confidence in performing a range of procedures.. This course takes place in-person.
Learning outcomes
When attending this course, topics will include:
- Open cystostomy.
- Reimplantation of ureter with psoas hitch.
- Boari flap.
- Transuretero-ureterostomy.
- Emergency renal exploration.
Who is this course for?
The Emergency Urological Surgery Cadaver Course is aimed at:
- middle years and senior urology trainees (ST4 to ST7).
Two delegates will be assigned to each cadaver along with a low delegate/faculty ratio. Some didactic teaching will take place, but the main emphasis of the course will be to provide hands-on, practical experience.
Attending the course:
This event is an in-person course. That means you get the chance to join us at the Clinical Anatomy Skills Centre, located at the University of Glasgow.
The centre is located on the university campus in the West End of Glasgow.
The closest train station from Glasgow Central or Queen Street is Partick, which is around a 15-minute walk from the centre.
Hillhead and Kelvinbridge subway stations are both within walking distance of the university.
There are regular buses from the city centre to University Avenue, Traveline Scotland can help you find the best route.
Parking on or around University Avenue can be quite limited, though there is some available. If you require disabled parking, you can make a request to the Disability Services team at the University of Glasgow.
Claiming your CPD
This course offers 6 CPD points for everyone who attends. This can be claimed via your College account. CPD points will be available for up to one month after the course.
