Overview
CASC is one of the UK’s leading facilities for clinical anatomy and procedural training using fresh/frozen cadaveric material. Designed to support learners across all stages of their careers from students and trainees to senior clinicians, the Centre combines modern surgical skills laboratories, expert staff, and high‑quality technical resources to deliver immersive, practice‑based education.
Alongside our comprehensive programme of surgical courses, CASC also serves as a specialist venue for Commercial companies.
Equipment/Facilities
CASC provides an environment designed to support surgical training and industry‑led innovation. The Centre brings together modern laboratory design, advanced audiovisual technology, and specialist surgical equipment to create a flexible space suitable for everything from small‑group teaching to larger‑scale, multi‑station courses.
Laboratory spaces
- 10 bespoke stainless‑steel surgical anatomy tables
- Custom table fittings for a full range of cadaveric positioning
- 20 specialised storage cabinets
- 10 surgical instrument trolleys with wide range of premium surgical instruments
Tables can be repositioned to expand capacity, allowing up to 20 additional workstations within the laboratory areas.

Minimal access surgery equipment
The labs incorporate10 advanced minimal‑access surgery stacks with high‑definition cameras, wide‑screen monitors and true LED light technology.
As well as this, full recording and playback capabilities are available, with wall‑mounted, high‑definition monitors at every station and full selection of laparoscopic instruments for training and demonstration.
Technology & AV capabilities
Each workstation includes:
- A 42‑inch HD monitor with inputs for endoscopic equipment, external cameras, and digital devices
- Dual‑projection systems
- Radio microphone setup
- Integrated PC and internet access
- Theatre cameras and HD visual feeds
- AV systems suitable for live demonstrations, streaming, and recording
Additional amenities
Modern changing room spaces are provided with full disabled access.
Where to find us
The centre is located on the Glasgow university campus in the West End of Glasgow.
The closest train station from Glasgow Central or Queen Street is Partick, which is around a 15-minute walk from the centre.
Hillhead and Kelvinbridge subway stations are both within walking distance of the university.
There are regular buses from the city centre to University Avenue, Traveline Scotland can help you find the best route.
Parking on or around University Avenue can be quite limited, though there is some available. If you require disabled parking, you can make a request to the Disability Services team at the University of Glasgow.

Frequently asked questions
CASC is located near major train, bus, and subway routes. The Centre has full disabled access, modern changing facilities, and support for visitors who require accessible parking (arranged via the University’s Disability Services).
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for multi‑day events. Cadaveric material is limited, and dates can fill several months in advance.
