30 Aug 2019

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is to work with financial planning and investment advice group Tilney to facilitate the provision of expert advice on pensions to its UK membership at an event on the 16th September.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is to work with financial planning and investment advice group Tilney to facilitate the provision of expert advice on pensions to its UK membership.

The new partnership means that members of the Royal College will have access to Tilney’s expert financial advice though a range of member events and communications over the coming months as part of a growing list of membership benefits. The partnership will kick-off on the 16th September with a members-only pensions seminar to be held at the College’s Glasgow headquarters.

Welcoming the new collaboration, College President Professor Jackie Taylor said:

“I know that our current pensions arrangements are a key concern for our membership and the wider health profession. For example, recent changes to pensions rules have meant that an increasing number of senior consultants have faced significant tax bills when working additional hours, which is adding to the existing workforce pressures on our health service. In this context it’s vital that our membership can make informed decisions about their future financial plans. That’s why I welcome this new partnership with Tilney, which will allow our members access to expert financial advice at a time when their personal finances are so topical.

“Members of our College can sign up now for this event though our website here.”

Graham MacLeod, financial planner at Tilney, said:

“We are delighted to be partnering with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. The ongoing crisis surrounding NHS pensions continues to be of great concern throughout the industry and the need for financial advice in this area has never been greater. This new partnership will allow us to provide this advice to medical professionals and help them make informed decisions about their financial future.”
