Professor David Ross, Dean of the Faculty of Travel Medicine
David Ross was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1983 and graduated in medicine from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, in 1986. His career has included a range of military and academic roles, and in 2012 he was appointed the Parkes Professor of Preventive Medicine. Two years later, he was further honoured with appointment as an Honorary Queen’s Physician.
He has been associated with MASTA, a leading travel medicine provider, since around 2005 and, from 2012 onwards, has served as their Consultant Medical Advisor, offering expert guidance on issues relating to global health and disease prevention.
David’s recent research interests in travel medicine have focused on malaria prevention and tuberculosis screening, areas in which he continues to contribute to professional practice. He is also Chief Examiner of the Diploma in Medical Care of Catastrophes at the Society of Apothecaries, and serves as an examiner for the UK Faculty of Public Health.
