Dr Oliver Koch DPhil FRCP (Lon, Edin, Glas) FFTM (RCPSG) is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, NHS Lothian, Scotland, and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, focusing on the genetic determinants of malaria outcomes, and trained clinically in the United Kingdom and Germany, with additional deployments in South-East Asia.
His clinical interests include tropical and travel medicine, tuberculosis and human immunodeficiency virus. He leads the NHS Lothian Travel Medicine Service and is Principal Investigator for several national and international infectious disease research studies.
Dr Koch serves as an Ordinary Member of the Executive Board of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at the College and contributes to postgraduate assessment as an Objective Structured Clinical Examination question writer and examiner. His work is driven by a commitment to improving patient care through clinical practice, service development, education and national infectious disease policy.
