JCST fee for trainees frozen for 2019-20

The Colleges recognise the significant financial pressures being placed on trainees and have decided to freeze the JCST fee at £260 for 2019-20, with the intention to hold it at this level for a further two years beyond that, to August 2022, subject to affordability.

Hope Foundation Announces Grants Awards

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow’s HOPE Foundation has announced its first round of funding, awarding seven grants to a variety of organisations. The projects supported by these grants range from work in Glasgow to support homeless people to funding a doctor to provide healthcare in Amazonian Peru.

Support for doctors – resource launched

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges has launched a resource for doctors that signposts different organisations that can provide support for those working in healthcare.

Celebrating 320 years

2018 marks the 320th anniversary of the establishment of the College’s Library and the Committee that was formed to run it. Here we will consider this rich history and look ahead to what kind of library our members need in the future.

Female Genital Mutilation

Female genital mutilation, or FGM, is a violation of the human rights of girls and women. This practice isn’t driven by any medical imperative, but is defined by the World Health Organisation as all procedures involving partial or total removal of the female external genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.

Voice - Making a difference in Nepal

Our College has the most extensive range of awards and scholarships available to our membership than any other Royal College. Earlier this year we made a TC White Travel Grant award to Tony Markus FDS RCPS(Glasg). Tony was formerly a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at Poole Hospital in Dorset, and used this award of £2000 to gain experience outside of the UK.
