Baroness Helena Kennedy has been admitted to The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as an Honorary Fellow.

Sir Chris Whitty has been admitted to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as an Honorary Fellow.

Dr Valentin Fuster has been admitted to The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as an Honorary Fellow.

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2023, the College has reached out to our women examiners to reflect on their important contribution to education and training and encourage more female participation in College life.

It is our hope that the Government and the BMA’s UK Junior Doctors Committee come to a swift agreement, which recognises the great value that trainees bring to the NHS, minimises the impact on services and senior clinicians and reassures patients that they will continue to receive the high level of care they rightly expect.

Today, 1st February— two years since the deadly coup in Myanmar took place—Royal Colleges across the UK are lighting up their buildings in red in a moment of solidarity and remembrance for health workers who have risked, and lost, their lives to provide care over the past year.

We know that our members will not take any decisions over strike action lightly and that the best interests of the patients they care for will be a central consideration. Whatever decision is made, we will continue to support our members, for their well-being, the sustainability of services and ultimately, for the benefit of patients.

Our College extends warmest congratulations to Professor Jackie Taylor, former President of the College, who has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List.

As the cost of energy and food, rents and mortgages continue to rise, we are concerned that a significant number of people may find themselves homeless for the first time this winter. All healthcare professionals and organisations can help prepare for and respond to it.
