Overview

Specialty Certificate Examinations (SCEs) are internationally recognised, postgraduate qualifications that demonstrate your ability within a specific field.

These postgraduate qualifications are administered by the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK. Their aim is to offer physicians a way of demonstrating to prospective employers they have the necessary knowledge and skills to hold a specialty post.

Each Specialty Certificate Examination tests both clinical knowledge and your understanding of current medical thinking.

The exams are designed to ensure you have sufficient knowledge to practice safely and competently as a consultant. They will complement any workplace-based assessments.

These exams are now a compulsory part of a Certificate for Completion of Training (CCT) for all UK-based trainees pursuing a career in the following specialties.
