Overview
This new procedural course will deliver comprehensive education and an approach to enduring safe analgesia and use of local anesthetic. Safe prescribing and a practical simulation will also be covered, applying the theory to practice with DC Cardioversion.
This course fills the curricula of Acute Internal Medicine, General Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and other specialties in offering an opportunity to be signed off for DC Cardioversion. Also proving the education theory to information, the physicians how to endure patient safety and comfort.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this course delegates will be able to:
- Understand the GMC principles of consent
- Understand basic airway management
- Know the indications for procedural sedation in a general medical environment
- Have an awareness of different analgesics and their application
- Know when to suspect and manage toxicity of analgesics
- Have the opportunity to apply the theory to practise by undertaking simulated DC cardioversion and be signed off as competent for DC cardioversion
