Summary
We are seeking a Lay Advisor with broad professional expertise across the digital landscape, including digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
About the opportunity
The successful applicant will become a member of the Lay Advisory Group and provide informed, independent advice and constructive challenge as the College develops its approach to digital technology, transformation and AI.
This is an advisory rather than operational or technical role. You will not be responsible for implementing technology, providing IT support or managing the College's digital systems. We are looking for someone who can bring strategic insight into how digital tools, platforms and emerging technologies can support organisational objectives and enhance operational excellence.
What will you bring?
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in areas such as:
- digital strategy and transformation
- Artificial Intelligence, including generative AI and responsible AI
- emerging digital technologies and their organisational applications
- digital platforms, systems and technology implementation
- data, analytics and business intelligence
- user experience, accessibility and effective digital services
- digital engagement, communications and online presence
- digital governance, risk, privacy, security and assurance
You should have a broad understanding of the opportunities and risks associated with digital innovation and be prepared to advise at a strategic and operational level to non-specialist audiences.
We are not necessarily looking for a technical specialist in every area. We are interested in someone with the breadth of experience and judgement to help the College navigate the wider digital landscape, with AI forming an important part of that remit.
You will also contribute to the wider work and discussions of the Lay Advisory Group, bringing the independent perspective expected of all College lay advisors.
Commitment
The Lay Advisory Group meets approximately three to four times each year. Applicants should also be willing, where required, to provide occasional specialist input on digital or AI-related matters at ad hoc digital strategy meetings. Total time commitment is expected to be approximately 15 hours per year.
Meetings are hybrid, with the option of attending in person at our Glasgow offices or remotely via Microsoft Teams.
Interested?
We would love to hear from people who can bring their experience, expertise and a different perspective to our work.
Applicants should submit an up-to-date CV and supporting statement, clearly stating which position or positions they wish to be considered for and outlining how their skills and experience meet the relevant role specification.
Applications should be submitted to governance@rcpsg.ac.uk.
