Support and mentorship

Mentors and buddies

Our mentorship and buddy programmes provide members with a point of support, informal advice and guidance as they progress through their training and development.

Our mentors are fully trained before being matched with a suitable mentee to ensure a supportive, open and honest relationship. More details about our mentorship programme is available here.

Our buddy scheme pairs core trainees with specialty trainees, who provide valuable support and advice on what to expect. More information about the buddy scheme is available here.

Revalidation

The purpose of revalidation is to assure patients and the public, employers and other healthcare professionals that licensed doctors are up to date and fit to practise. In order to maintain your licence to practise you will be expected to have a minimum of one appraisal per year that is based on the General Medical Council’s (GMC) core guidance for doctors, Good Medical Practice. Revalidation involves a continuing evaluation of your fitness to practise and is based on local systems of appraisal and clinical governance. Further information is available here
