The Secretary of State for Health, the Right Honourable Jeremy Hunt, announced today that the new system of appraisal and revalidation for doctors will be introduced in December 2012.
Preparations for revalidation have been ongoing for the past two years and College has been actively involved in a number of steering and advisory groups to ensure that the interests of Fellows and Members across the United Kingdom have been taken into account.
To ensure that Fellows and Members remain informed, and to respond to any requests for information and clarification on how the new system will work, College will establish a dedicated Revalidation Helpdesk to address all enquiries and to support Fellows and Members through the process.
The Helpdesk will respond to all questions in relation to processes and procedures. Enquiries of a clinical / specialty nature will be considered by a Revalidation and Relicensing Board (RRB) comprising of representatives from the range of medical and surgical specialties.
College, in partnership with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AOMRC), is currently compiling a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to assist Fellows and Members understanding of what revalidation will mean for them.
In order to ensure that all enquiries are properly recorded and directed to the appropriate adviser, please send any questions you may have to revalidation@rcpsg.ac.uk.
