SCONUL Access

Writing an assignment? Looking for books to help you but can't get to the College library? Members of the College are now able to take advantage of the SCONUL access scheme. This scheme allows members to borrow or use books and journals at other participating higher education libraries throughout the UK and Ireland. And it's free!

The SCONUL access scheme is open to the following users:

• Band A: staff and postgraduate research students (e.g. registered for a PhD, MPhil or similar qualification usually awarded by research)
• Band B: part time undergraduate and postgraduate students including those on distance learning courses
• Band C: full time taught postgraduates
• Band R: reference access to full-time undergraduates and some other users not covered by the banding agreement

To find out which libraries are members of the scheme please visit the SCONUL website. You'll also find information on the bands of membership accepted by that library (not all libraries accept all bands of users) and the resources you have access to.

Apply for access to other libraries

You can apply for access on the SCONUL website. When applying for access please use the barcode on the back of your College Library card as your membership/student number - if you don't have one of these please contact us at library@rcpsg.ac.uk. Once you've registered and your application has been approved you will receive an email - print this off and take it, your College library card and a form of photographic ID (e.g. passport, driving license) along with you on your first visit to your selected library.

Applying for access to our library

We welcome applications from bands A, B, C and R (band R members may make use of the facilities and resources within the library but are unable to borrow). You will need to apply for access through the SCONUL website. Once your application has been approved by your home library please bring the approval email and your library or student ID card along with you when you first visit us and we will issue you with a library account. Please note that we do not provide access to our online resources.
