The Senior Fellows’ Club (SFC) is open to Fellows and Members of the College, across its disciplines, who have retired from substantive practice. Retired Fellows/Members of the other UK Physician and Surgeon Colleges are also welcome to join. The Club was established in 1976 as the College Seniors Club and has earned an enviable reputation as a vibrant and valued part of the College life.
In normal circumstances the SFC meets in the College on seven afternoons each session, monthly from October to April. The meetings are centred on a programme of lecture presentations on a wide range of topics, all delivered by Club members. Just over half of the lectures are preceded by a drinks reception and lunch, the others being followed by coffee/tea. Throughout its 2020-21 session, with COVID-19 restrictions in place, the Club functioned very successfully as SFC online, with well-attended webinar events replacing in-person meetings.
SFC membership for the 2021-22 session is free. Members will be given the opportunity to book lunches/receptions on an event-by-event basis, for a very reasonable charge. The Programme for the session, and information on applicable terms and conditions, can be viewed by current Fellows/Members of the College on their Dashboard by clicking/tapping on "My Membership Benefits".
The 6 October and 3 November 2021 events are webinar-only, but the Club hopes to return to the College from 1 December onwards. For the first time, in-person meetings will be supplemented with simultaneous webinar transmission, enabling retired Fellows/Members to be part of the SFC whether or not they are able to come to the College.
Fellows/Members who have retired, or will be retiring between now and April 2022, can have their details added to the SFC Contacts List and be sent further information on the 2021-22 session by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 0141 221 6072 and asking for/selecting the Membership Department.
New and returning members are always warmly welcomed.
