Requirements:
To ensure the Committee can effectively fulfill its responsibilities, we are seeking Fellows with the following specific skills and experience:
• Clinical Expertise: A minimum of 10 years of post-Fellowship clinical practice in a relevant medical or surgical specialty. Applicants should demonstrate a deep understanding of clinical standards and training pathways in their specialty.
• Academic Excellence: A strong record of academic contributions, such as peer-reviewed publications, research leadership, or involvement in developing clinical guidelines or curricula. Experience in evaluating academic credentials or qualifications is highly desirable.
• Decision-Making and Analytical Skills: Proven ability to critically evaluate complex applications, including non-standard qualifications, and provide clear, evidence-based, and unbiased justifications for decisions. Experience in committee-based decision-making or peer review processes is essential.
• Leadership and Management: Demonstrated leadership in a clinical, academic, or professional setting, such as leading a department, serving on a professional board, or managing multidisciplinary teams. Strong organisational skills to handle time-sensitive tasks and contribute to policy development are required.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to draft clear, professional correspondence and engage in constructive discussions during meetings. Experience in delivering feedback to applicants or stakeholders is advantageous.
Due to the expected high volume of applications, preference will be given to Fellows who can demonstrate a combination of the above skills through specific examples in their CV and covering letter. Applicants should clearly outline how their experience aligns with these criteria and their ability to contribute to the Committee’s objectives.
It is also desirable that we have a Fellow(s) who practices in Ophthalmology to assist the committee in its business; applicants should note their ophthalmology practice in the application.
