President visits Sri Lanka to strengthen collaboration with medical and surgical colleges

College President, Professor Hany Eteiba, has strengthened our international collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka (CSSL).

The agreement reinforces the strong relationship between our College and CSSL, recognising the ongoing and recently expanded collaboration on assessment, namely the MD (Surgery) examination conducted by the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine at the University of Colombo, and the fellowship examinations in urology and general surgery conducted by CSSL.

During his visit Professor Eteiba was also a special guest of the 59th Annual Academic Sessions of the Ceylon College of Physicians. The theme of the conference was 'Achieving Health Excellence through Person-Centred Care' where he was invited to deliver a Key-note lecture on “AI in Medicine: Shaping the future while preserving the Human Touch”.

At an inauguration ceremony, Professor Eteiba was presented with an Honorary Fellowship from Professor Namal Wijesinghe, President of the Ceylon College of Physicians, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of Interventional Cardiology and medicine in addition to his distinguished service to the global medical community and education.

The Honorary Fellowship is reserved for physicians of exceptional international eminence whose contributions have significantly advanced the science and practice of medicine.

Reflecting on his visit, College President Professor Hany Eteiba said: "I am deeply honoured to receive this Honorary Fellowship from the Ceylon College of Physicians and grateful for the warm welcome I received during my visit to Sri Lanka. I am mindful that this recognition reflects not only my own journey, but also the standing and reputation of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in the world – an institution I am immensely proud to serve as President.
