Artwork in header image depicts ‘Carolina Pigeon or Turtle Dove’, featured on plate 17 in Volume One of the College’s first edition of JJ Audubon’s book The Birds of America. Published between 1827 and 1838, this rare collection consists of 435 hand-coloured, life-sized paintings of birds from across North America, five of which are now extinct.
The book and the story surrounding its creation will be exhibited at the College in spring 2026.
