Following the Perinatal Mortality report published by MBRRACE, leading experts in obstetrics and other medical disciplines have called for improvements in care for pregnant women and new mothers. This statement outlines their recommendations.

An open letter to Sir Jeremy Heywood from the Alcohol Health Alliance expressing concerns about the alcohol industry interests held by the appointed Chief Executive of the UK civil service. The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is a member of the Alcohol Health Alliance.

The College issued a statement supporting the plan by the Scottish government to move towards plain packaging on cigarettes.

Alcohol and Cancer (March 2013)

The College issued a statement in response to a report by the Alcohol Health Alliance "Alcohol and cancer", supporting the call for action to be taken to reduce population-level alcohol consumption. The College believes this can be achieved through a combination of measures including a minimum unit-price for alcohol and the provision of information to help inform people of the risks of alcohol.
