Gerrie Douglas-Scott

Ms Gerrie Douglas-Scott was appointed Lay Advisor to the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine Board in April 2026. She brings extensive experience of inclusive, person-centred and values-driven approaches to the design, delivery and evaluation of care. Her work as a lay public health professional reflects a strong commitment to equality, justice and meaningful involvement, ensuring that lived experience informs practice and policy.

Ms Douglas-Scott also has a long-standing interest in spiritual care and co-chaired the Scottish Government’s Working Group for Professional Chaplaincy. She previously served as NHS Advisor on Involving People.

A qualified therapist and supervisor, she co-founded Celebrate People in 2017 to promote inclusive celebrancy. For more than twenty years, she has conducted legal marriage ceremonies and funerals tailored to the identities and values of those she serves. She speaks several languages and is known for her thoughtful and reflective approach.
