To mark our 425 year anniversary we are introducing the Taylor Medal award, which will recognise individuals who have had a demonstrable positive impact on patient care. They will have demonstrated leadership, locally or nationally, in any of the following areas: 

  • Innovation
  • Service development  
  • Education and training
  • Health policy / health systems
  • Adversity / challenging circumstances 

What you will receive 

Recipients of The Taylor Medal will receive the following: 

  • A hand-crafted silver gilt medal bearing the name of the award designed by Fattorini.
  • An invitation to present your leadership success as part of the Leadership Development Scholarship Programme alumni group.
  • An invitation to receive your award at a future event at the College. 

Timeline

One award will be granted annually. Applications close on 29 August 2025 and the winner will be notified in November. 

About Professor Jackie Taylor

The medal is named after College Past President, Professor Jackie Taylor. As the first female President, she led the College through the Covid-19 pandemic. Her focus was on the wellbeing of the profession, workforce challenges and equality, diversity and inclusivity. During her tenure the College underwent reshaping, modernisation of its governance and financial structures, development of a people strategy and implementation of EDI framework. 

She is a retired clinician with a sub-specialty interest in heart failure. She previously chaired the Heart Failure sub-group of the Cardiac Managed Clinical Network, responsible for strategic development and delivery of multidisciplinary heart failure services. From a managerial perspective, she has been Clinical Director, Associate Medical Director and Clinical Quality Lead for Geriatric Medicine.
