Details
The David Murdoch Memorial Fund has been established to encourage the further education of young cardiologists. One Travelling Fellowship will be awarded each year on a competitive basis. Funds provided should be used for travel and subsistence for the Travelling Fellowship and not family members. Awards are not expected to cover salary costs. Appropriate arrangements for study leave and continuation of salary must be made with the applicant's employing authority. It is hoped that the award will be used by cardiologists to travel to centres of excellence to gain experience in their own field which will then be of benefit in their future career. It is not intended to fund travel to meetings or to pay for training in the home country, which would normally be considered the responsibility of the employing authority. Awards are limited to a maximum of £2,000 each and are therefore most suited to candidates wishing to visit overseas centres for between two and six weeks. The Scholarship Committee may consider a candidate who has obtained funds elsewhere but in most cases it is likely that the David Murdoch Memorial Travelling Fellowship will be the sole sponsor.
